This has to be the most fun I’ve had on a project. When EA approached me about directing a video for The Sims video game for EA Play Live, all they needed to say was “…singing to cows” and I was in. Then they told me Japanese Breakfast was in and well…once I regained consciousness, I got to work. It’s always a good idea to be flexible when filming with animals. I relied on my past experience working with animals on set to inform how we’d plan this shoot. Having the ability to polish timing with VFX, as we did here, is always helpful. We shot with 8 cows and duplicated them with VFX to make a few shots fuller. My experience as a VFX supervisor on commercial productions meant we could keep the crew on set smaller, as we shot during COVID. We delivered a 30 second spot, as well as a long form version with creative flair to spare. I’m extremely proud of the work I did on this project, and it was a pleasure to work with EA and The Sims team.
