Imagine yourself floating lazily in a pool, your tunes pumping as you sip a cold beer. The Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 2 is a wireless Bluetooth speaker and it’s waterproof. I wanted to create a flat backdrop that hinted at an environment without being a literal translation in the studio. So, like many times before, my journey started at Home Depot. I got some plexiglass, the perfect shade of aqua spray paint, a few odds and ends, and I was off. During the shoot I tried a few different things, but the shot that caught my eye had a the perfect mixture of droplets and water ripples. I knew I had it, but I kept shooting. It didn’t matter, I couldn’t top that shot. Sometimes you get greedy, ya know? After the shoot I took the Wonderboom to Palm Springs where I floated in a pool, drank cold beer, and pumped my tunes. Every so often life imitates art.
